COMPETITION AREA: FINTRAC employees and persons employed in the Public Service and in other federal organizations, in the National Capital Region.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Secret
You must be a Canadian Citizen and eligible for a Top Secret security clearance. The screening process generally includes: a credit, criminal, and CSIS Indices background field investigation; a security interview, as well as relevant skills tests, as required.
CITIZENSHIP: All FINTRAC employees must be Canadian citizens.

Position Description: He/She will be responsible for writing, reviewing, editing, and proofreading texts or documents related to a wide variety of topics in both print and electronic format. Monitors media and produces daily news clippings and distributes the information electronically. He/She will conduct quality assurance functions on communications products and liaises with business experts and suppliers as needed. He/She will assist the internal promotion of National Public Service Week and other designated yearly events.

Screening Criteria

Education: University degree in communications, or in a related discipline, or an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in writing, revising, editing and proofreading various documents;
  • Experience in assisting the development, production and distribution of various communications products such as: reports, speeches, pamphlets, information sheets, internal communications announcements, video;
  • Experience in writing for the Web; and
  • Experience coordinating web projects and publishing on the Internet.

Selection Criteria

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of FINTRAC’s mandate and activities; and
  • Knowledge of the Communications Policy of the Government of Canada.

Abilities / Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to write in a clear, logical and concise manner;
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision;
  • Organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to make presentations in front of small groups; and
  • Ability to use computer software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe or other graphic design products to generate documents.
