SECURITY CLEARANCE: Secret
You must be a Canadian Citizen and eligible for a Top Secret security clearance. The screening process generally includes: a credit, criminal, and CSIS Indices background field investigation; a security interview, as well as relevant skills tests, as required.
CITIZENSHIP: All FINTRAC employees must be Canadian citizens.

Position Description: As a Compliance Officer within the Compliance Enforcement (CE) Unit, you will play a supporting role to some of its key functions. In this position, your duties will include:

- Assisting in the review and drafting of key policies and procedures and guidance;

- Playing a role in the reviewing of examination files to ensure completeness of required information in cases where the examination findings may warrant a civil or criminal penalty;

- Assisting in the mail out of the Compliance Assessment Reports;

- Conducting follow-ups with reporting entities as required; and

- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Screening Criteria

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in a discipline relevant to the position, or an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in interpreting and/or applying legislation and/or regulations;
  • Experience in preparing written material such as reports, briefing materials, presentations decks, correspondence;
  • Experience in proofreading documents;
  • Experience in dealing with the public; and
  • Experience working in a team environment.

Selection Criteria

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of FINTRAC’s mandate and legislation; and
  • Knowledge of at least one of the reporting entity sectors covered under our legislation.

Abilities / Skills:

  • Problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing;
  • Organizational and time management skills; and
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and learn other software.

Notes:

Preference may be given to those with a bachelor’s degree.

A written exam may be administered.
